The Challenge

Hambledon Wine Estates needed their website to reflect the premium nature of their brand and the quality of their wine. They operate in a highly competitive space. Big brands dominate. Search terms are fiercely fought over.

Their website was falling behind. Competitors were taking traffic. Their key pages weren’t performing. Potential customers were looking elsewhere.

Hambledon needed:

The Results:

Hambledon now ranks at the top of Google for major non-branded search terms. These include high intent terms such as:

  • English sparkling wines

  • Vineyard tours

  • English sparkling wine tours

  • Wine tasting Hampshire

  • Sparkling wine

These terms alone bring in more than 45,000 searches a month.

Search performance has jumped across the board. In the last period measured:

  • 51,100 clicks from Google. Up 148%

  • 2.6 million impressions. Up 90%

  • Click through rate now 1.9%

  • Average position now 21.1, a clear lift.

  • 78.8% of clicks are non-branded, which shows strong growth from new customers who did not search for 'Hambledon' by name.

Key pages now also show in Google’s AI Overviews, which adds trust and more search reach.

Traffic is up in almost every country. The biggest gains came from:

  • United Kingdom. 45,500 clicks. Up 149%

  • United States. Up 150%

  • Australia. Up 165%

  • France, Portugal, Norway, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Canada and Italy also saw strong lifts.

Business Impact:

In our first three months together:

  • We added £4,902 a month in extra booking revenue.

  • That is a 25% lift.

  • No discounts. Just clearer messaging and better targeting.

Sales have continued to climb.

  • December 2024 Gross Sales: £30,526

  • December 2025 Gross Sales: £66,351. This is more than double year on year.

Other key gains:

  • 52% increase in gross orders in our first quarter.

  • The English sparkling wine collection saw a 33% jump in organic orders.

  • Big rise in organic traffic.

  • Big rise in direct orders.
