Tog Knives – Four Months of Organic Growth

The Challenge: Tog Knives make some of the best kitchen knives in the world. Their product is strong, and their brand is loved.

But their organic traffic had stalled. Search demand was moving. Competitors were pushing harder. They needed more people finding them on Google. They asked us to fix it.

What We Did: We kept the plan simple.Find the gaps. Build content that answers what people search for. Tidy-up key pages on the site. Improve internal links. Strengthen pages that should rank.

The big focus was sharpening. We saw huge search volume and weak competition. So we built a full sharpening hub. Guides. How to's.

The results (Oct 1 to Dec 28, 2025) Google Search Console showed strong, steady organic growth across the 3-month period.

  • Daily clicks grew from around 60 to 75 in early October to 200+ by late December. That’s roughly 2.5 to 3 times growth.

  • Daily impressions climbed from 15,000 to 20,000 to 70,000 to 90,000, which is around 4 to 5 times growth.

  • Total for the period: 9.01K clicks and 2.55M impressions

  • Average position: 8.1 (still mostly page one)

  • Growth pattern: consistent and rising, not a few lucky spikes

  • Momentum: growth sped up from late November into December, especially impressions

Even with an average position around the bottom of page one, visibility jumped. That usually means the site is showing up for more searches, across more topics, and picking up more wins over time.

The engine behind it: sharpening content

One content cluster did the heavy lifting. We built a simple “knife sharpening” hub around what people were already searching for, and made the content genuinely useful.

Big movers included:

  • “What is the best way to sharpen a kitchen knife”: +3,517% clicks

  • “Best whetstone to buy”: +259% clicks

  • “How to test how sharp a knife is”: +148% clicks

  • “What angle should I sharpen my knife at”: +127% clicks

  • “How to sharpen a knife with a steel or honing rod”: +115% clicks
